“The Negro Motorist Green Book” exhibit is coming to the Durham Museum and St. Luke is partnering with a Church of the Cross Presbyterian group to visit this exhibit on Saturday, March 7 at 10:00am. Some of you may have seen the 2019 movie, “The Green Book” or read a copy of “The Green Book.”
This powerful exhibit offers an immersive look at the reality of travel for African Americans in mid-century American and how the annual guide served as an indispensable resource for the nation’s rising African American middle class. The exhibit was created by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service and Omaha is fortunate to have it on our schedule.
On March 7 we will meet at Durham Museum (801 South 10th Street) at 9:50am. We will have a guided, 30-minute tour of the exhibit at 10:00am. The cost of the exhibit tour is $13 per person (paid the day of the tour with cash or a check made out to Church of the Cross). After the tour, individuals have opportunity to either visit the rest of the museum or gather for conversation and a cup of coffee or a sweet treat in the soda fountain area.
