St. Luke’s Children’s Ministry is a thriving program where kids, with the guidance of loving and caring adults, take their first steps on their faith journey.

Nursery

We offer a nursery for ages 0-3 every Sunday during both worship services.  Having grown up in the church and worked in our Child Development Center, our experienced nursery staff love watching our little ones.  They read children’s Bible stories, do activities and play games.

St. Luke Kid’s Worship (Sunday School)

Our Sunday program is growing and thriving!  Using the Hands-On Bible curriculum, kids do age-appropriate activities and games while learning how to read the Bible and to talk about its lessons.  Sunday School is offered from 9:20-10:25 (during the first worship service) and 10:50-11:30 (during the second worship service).

  • We offer Sunday School for children Pre-K through Grade 5 (children are divided into grade groupings).

  • 6th Grade is part of the Jr. High Youth/Confirmation Class (see details on the Youth Ministry page of this web site)

Mission Kids

Mission Kids is a hands-on Mission program that gives kids Grades 2-5* the opportunity to serve others and make a difference in their world.

The kids enjoy service projects such as making cat blankets and pet toys for the Humane Society, kits for firemen who fight wildfires, gifts for kids at Children’s Hospital, and collecting books for Youth Emergency Services. It’s a great way to start kids out on a life of service.

Mission Kids meets on the first Wednesday of each month from 6:30-8:00 p.m. October-May.  We meet in the Great Room (please enter the building through the west bell tower doors to drop off and pick up children.)  We have dinner together at 6:30, then work on our projects from 7:00-8:00 p.m.

*Kids younger than 2nd Grade are welcome to attend if a parent stays to help them.

Club 45

Club 45 offers social events just for 4th & 5th Grade kids.  This is an opportunity for them to develop friendships with each other before joining the youth group (6th Grade).  Watch the weekly email for meeting dates.  The time is 6:30-8:00 p.m. (we have supper together at 6:30, then activity time from 7:00-8:00).

St. Luke Kids Yearly Events…Watch for details in the weekly email from our Children’s & Family Ministry

  • Community Easter Egg Hunt—The Saturday before Easter is a day for hunting eggs, playing with friends and celebrating new life through the resurrection of Jesus!

  • Summer Family Picnic—Families’ potluck and barbecue together on the St. Luke playground while children play.  Fun and fellowship for all!

  • Vacation Bible School—For a week in July, we join Hanscom Park UMC for Vacation Bible School.  This fun event is a great way to meet other kids while we have fun growing closer to God through games and lessons.  It’s fantastic fun!

  • Messy Mondays—Open-door intergenerational art expression day every Monday in the summer.

  • Pop-Up Sunday—The first Sunday of the church school year with a celebration as our children get to “Pop-Up” to their new grades.

  • Bible Sunday—Every September or October we celebrate Bible Sunday by presenting Hands-On Bibles to our 3rd Graders (and anyone up to 6th Grade who has not received one).  Then we have a fun Bible scavenger hunt where we learn how to use our Bibles to read scripture as clues, leading us all over the church.

  • Communion & Baptism—In the fall, the pastors host a special 3-part class on communion for our 1st-2nd Graders, with a special communion for them and their families.  In the spring, the children do a special series on baptism.

  • Family Bingo Night and Potluck—In the Fall we host a family bingo night with prizes and dinner together.  It is a fun way to connect and meet other St. Luke families.

  • Trunk or Treat—The last Wednesday in October we have a special party in the St. Luke parking lot–a night to dress up in costume, get candy and play games and meet some of our St. Luke neighbors.

  • Christmas Play & Family Advent Party—In December we have a great everyone-has-a-role Christmas play during the first worship service followed by a Christmas party.
